CrossFit
CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program that delivers a fitness that is by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Elements of track and field, gymnastics, weightlifting, and strongman are combined in short intense daily workouts to maximize results for any individual. CrossFit teaches functional movement patterns, or, movements that you find in real life -pushing, pulling, squatting, jumping, throwing, carrying, and sprinting. CrossFit programming is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind. Our teachers, first responders, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.
CrossFit Kids
Based on the principle of mechanics, consistency and then intensity, CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement. Every class includes warm up, skill work, work out of the day (WOD), game play, and positive reinforcement. Your child’s confidence, both physically and mentally, will grow with each class. AGES 5-8 Teaches basic physical skills, but also social skills and confidence. Children are taught functional movements that kids use in everyday “play” such as squats, pushing, pulling, climbing, jumping, and running. Every class includes warm-up, skill work, workout of the day (WOD), game play and positive reinforcement. Your child’s confidence, both physically and mentally, will grow with each class. AGES 9-13 Skills learned are more detailed and may involve light weights. Exercises will include gymnastics, weight lifting basics, running, rowing, and stretching. Classes continue include warm-up, skill work, a WOD, game play and positive reinforcement.
Competitive CrossFit
The Competition Team programming is for athletes whose expressed goal is higher level competition. Competitions have evolved past the big stage of CrossFit games and have become available for all levels of athletic ability. Sawed-Off CrossFit recognizes this and has created a list of standards that apply to the typical “Rx” or “Scaled” divisions found in competitions now. The program is designed to attack athletes’ specific weaknesses and turn those weaknesses into strengths. We ask our athletes to “Trust the Process” and be a good example for other athletes to follow. We typically recommend at least 6 months of CrossFit experience prior to starting the program. The standard for “Rx” and “Scaled” athletes is shown below. All reps unbroken unless specified Otherwise. Muscle Ups and HSPUs capacity is mandatory for RX athletes. To be considered for the RX program you must possess 17 out of 20 Requirements. To be considered for the scaled program athletes must possess 13 out of the 16 requirements.
